The mass airflow sensor (MAF) measures the amount of air entering the engine. The OBD-II code P0101 is set when the signal from the mass air flow sensor is out of expected range, or in other words, the MAF sensor doesn't work properly. In most cases, this code is not very difficult to diagnose.
Testing to see if the MAF sensor on your 3.5L GM equipped car or pickup or SUV is BAD or not can easily be done with a multimeter. In this article I'll show you how to do it in a step-by-step fashion that will either condemn the mass air flow (MAF) sensor as BAD or exonerate it.
These two wires are easily seen in a wiring diagram of the vehicle. Mike, your wire color should be dark blue and the purple. Check to see if these wires have 12 volts at the mass air flow sensor
Here is a video on how you can test your MAF Sensor using a basic $5 Multimeter. I also show you how you can figure out the wires without a wiring diagram. If this video helped you out please don
